Mission & History
Reach A Child Raise A Leader
We help young people reach their academic potential, surrounding them with an intentional circle of support that prepares each child to become thoughtful, engaged citizens in their communities.
UrbanPromise Trenton believes in the power of opportunity. We provide urban youth and teens with a chance to believe in and build, a positive future by providing Trenton’s children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, Christian leadership.
We believe by creating a more equitable setting for our students by providing quality programming in an inclusive and nurturing environment.
Life Skills Management
We understand creativity to be ongoing and we work to stay current on educational resources to best help all participants in our program.
We want everyone to understand that God loves them, and we strive to demonstrate it through our kind and nurturing words and actions.
We listen to each other’s ideas and opinions, providing support and encouragement as needed. We love and serve as we have been loved.
The vision to create an UrbanPromise ministry program in Trenton became a reality in 2011 when UPTrenton held its first Summer Camp on West State Street. Enthusiasm about the camp was so great that we opened our doors for a free AfterSchool program that same year. In the fall of 2014, we opened our second site in east Trenton in collaboration with the East Trenton Collaborative. We have continued to operate AfterSchool and Summer Camp, and StreetLeader programs in two locations. In addition, we offer a Youth College Readiness Program, an outdoor experiential learning program, Trenton Trekkers, and a College Scholarship Program.
As we enter our second decade, our goal is to create and maintain programming that allows students the opportunity to progress from campers, to StreetLeaders to college students, all with the support of UrbanPromise Trenton.
