Trustees Scholarship Fund

Financial support for young scholars

Did you know that only 11% of Trenton residents have bachelor’s degrees compared to 43% for all of Mercer County?

With a grant from the Yearley Family Foundation, Urban Promise established the Trustees Scholarship Fund in 2016 to ensure that UPT’s graduates would have the financial support they need to attend accredited 2 or 4-year colleges or reputable trade schools. This fund covers any costs that remain after grants and scholarships, including tuition, room and board, and books. In addition to financial support, the Trustees Scholarship Fund provides access to tutoring so these young scholars can build a strong academic profile.

UPT staff also serve as an essential resource as students navigate the transition from high school to college. Students must maintain certain GPAs to continue receiving scholarship funding after their first year. The future is bright for these students thanks to the Trustees Scholarship Fund.

Over $105,000 in funds awarded to date

At UPT, we believe that every graduating high school student should have the opportunity to go to college.

Featured students:

Anfry

Anfry is a second-year student in Rowan University’s Rowan Choice program. In 2017 Anfry became a StreetLeader at UrbanPromise Trenton. He worked diligently to build a solid academic foundation, and by the time he enrolled last fall, Anfry had developed into an engaged learner. He meets with more tutors than any UPT student every week. He earned a 3.9 GPA in his first semester in the program.

Sabrina

Since 2016, educators have been in awe of Sabrina! At Notre Dame High School, she was a fierce advocate for racial justice. At UrbanPromise Trenton, she frequently led by example. Now at LaSalle University, Sabrina, who is a Finance and Marketing major, was selected as an early inductee to the Business Honors Society and has secured a summer internship at KPMG.
